To meet increasing demand for its high performance, patented NorDiVent form-fill-seal (FFS) polyethylene (PE) sacks for powdered products, Berry Global Group, Inc.’s European business has made a multi-million-euro investment in the commissioning of a new conversion line at its Steinfeld factory in Germany.
The investment includes the refurbishment of a production hall and installation of state-of-the-art conversion machinery. This will increase production capacity at Steinfeld, allowing Berry to help meet the growing demand for reliable, sustainable packaging solutions while offering faster response times and maintaining the high quality of its NorDiVent film.
“We have seen strong demand for NorDiVent across our customer base in recent years, particularly now with its ability to incorporate recycled plastic content from our Sustane® range of recycled polymers,” said Frank Heseding, Sales Director. “With this new line, we will be able to maintain the highest levels of quality and service, including the customisation of the film for specific market requirements.”
NorDiVent FFS provides a long-term dust and moisture-free solution for the filling and packing of various types of powdery products, including cement, dry mixes, chemicals, foodstuffs, and more. Emerging as a popular choice for producers, the film’s durable construction helps ensure consistently reliable performance, letting out air in a dust-free manner while delivering effective moisture protection. This allows sacks to be stored outdoors unlike traditional paper alternatives. NorDiVent’s high tear resistance also provides further product protection and prevents spillage and waste throughout the supply chain.
Part of Berry’s B Circular Range, NorDiVent is available with up to 50% post-consumer recycled plastic in the form of Berry’s Sustane® range of recycled polymers. Importantly, the film is recyclable where PE film collections exist.
A variety of options, including anti-static, enables NorDiVent film to cope with the most challenging applications and products. The quality of the film also allows printing in up to eight colours to create impactful branding and maximise on-shelf presence. Other features include easier changeover between products and better operability.
“This increase in capacity underlines our commitment to continue delivering the highest quality products to our customers to meet their product handling and protection requirements while also supporting their sustainability objectives,” concluded Frank Heseding.
