SCREEN introduces PAC520P water-based inkjet press

At Labelexpo Europe 2023, SCREEN showcases its Truepress PAC520P water-based Inkjet press optimized for printing on paper-based flexible packaging materials.

SCREEN says this responds to the growing trend of brands looking for a sustainable alternative to multi-layer plastics packaging.

The Truepress PAC520P prints onto uncoated, machine-glazed (printing side) barrier papers from 40-250gsm at speeds of up to 80m/min with a maximum resolution of 600×900 dpi, a maximum width of 520mm and maximum paper reel diameter of 1000mm.

The press targets short-to-medium production runs (<10,000-15,000m), enabling converters to print smaller quantities of paper with a lower environmental impact.

The CMYK inkjet print engine utilizes pigmented water-based inks that are certified for use in food packaging applications, in compliance with all major EU food safety regulations currently in place.

SCREEN also launches the third generation of its hybrid press developed jointly with Nilpeter, combining SCREEN’s SAI inkjet digital printing technology with Nilpeter’s FA-Line flexo platform. This end-to-end solution enables efficient production of value-added labels with expanded gamut printing and white imprinting capabilities.

Additionally, SCREEN introduces an in-line Digital Primer prototype for the Truepress L350UV SAI UV inkjet press. This feature addresses the challenge of poor ink adhesion on some substrates by incorporating a digital primer directly into the press, delivering superior ink adhesion and better printing quality.
